RTIF Award Announcement

Ardnamurchan Lighthouse Trust are thrilled to announce that our partnership proposal to build resilience, improve access and improve the guest experience across outdoor areas of the lighthouse complex has attracted a conditional award of £192,000.00 from VisitScotland’s Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund (RTIF).

This commitment supports our full package of proposed actions; the mandate for which was drawn from six consultation and information-gathering exercises.

Our planned works cover improvements to the condition of our much-loved heritage foghorn, the resurfacing of our parking areas, better provisions for EV drivers and cyclists, more accessible footpaths, a new viewpoint, plus a full overhaul of our signage and interpretation offer.

This ringing endorsement by the RTIF represents a considerable achievement for our project team, and a huge step forward as the Trust seeks to protect and enhance the community-owned lighthouse complex for the benefit of our local area.

We do, however, have one final piece of the jigsaw to press into place before our proposal can move to implementation:

The Trust must secure additional matched funding before 31 March 2021 to access this RTIF commitment.

A suitable funder has been identified and an application is in the pipeline, but we do not have a decision date to share with you yet.
