Foggy morning with only the Island of Muck visible… Brightening in the west so here’s hoping the day improves.
Our usual Basking Shark is down between the lighthouse and Bay MacNeil…working his way towards us into the tide. I predict he will round the point by early afternoon.
We had visitors from Australia here this morning with Ardnamurchan Lighthouse connections. Their great great grandfather was one of the first principal keepers here. Luckily I had one of the old receipt books to hand and we found his signature dated 4th July 1962 confirming “ that he had “examined the Inventory Book, and compared the same with the articles specified as in his charge on his arrival, and the same was found to be accurate”. This was countersigned by the Assistant keeper. Basically a way for the NLB to ensure that when the keepers left a station they didnt take any NLB property with them!
